New Video "Cloudlight" featured on SF Weekly
Never let it be said that Bay Area dubstep patron Brendan Angelides isn't a dedicated artist. The talented producer has been working on his own kind of hip-hop-leaning electronic beat music under the name Eskmo for over a decade. In that time he's been picked up by respected labels such as Warp and Planet Mu, and has released music on his own eponymous label. Only recently was he officially signed onto the Ninja Tune roster for the release of his official debut full-length, Eskmo. But the 13-track disc couldn't cause any more anticipation if it was bringing the rapture, so we count ourselves lucky to finally get a first taste of the forthcoming record with this beautifully shot music video for "Cloudlight."
Accompanied by the strange, shuffling sounds that make up the beat for his track, Angelides traipses about a forest with a weathered wooden box before opening it to reveal what appear to be the remains of something (someone?). He then releases some ash -- a fateful action which somehow transports him into a whole other dimension/realm/universe. It's a beautifully shot and moody piece that flows amazingly with Eskmo's pristinely produced track. And if this tune doesn't whet your appetite for brooding electronic jams, you can get an exclusive brand-new track from Eskmo directly.
